Mission:
The Emerald Road
Location: Crew Quarters
Acacia's tiny kitchen was humming away, and she sang quietly to herself as she stirred a pot. The scent of curry and rice was redolent in the air, and in another pan pork chops sizzled away. It was more than enough to make her hungry if she hadn't been hungry to begin with. A book lay open on the table with styles and dye options mostly in red and red combinations.
Jack had walked in from shift, he needed a shower as he went to the Gym, work out some demons that lingered. He had not heard from Anacia, so wondered if he'd surprise her with a visit, once showered and dressed in casual civilian clothes he left his quarters and headed to hers hoping she was in AND, ok with his dropping by. He hoped the casual shirt and pants was ok as he grabbed without mostly looking before putting on.
She was dressed in a pair of white pillazo pants and tank top that mirrored her hair in bright purple and white, since she was lounging around her quarters there was no need to dress anything other than comfortable. Her feet were as she preferred them, bare.
Moment of truth. Jack pressed the chime to her door. She was not expecting him, they had made no plans but here he was.
"Come in!" she called, and turned from her cooking, spoon in hand to see who had come to see her.
When the doors opened Jack walked in, the aroma of cooking and spices greeted his nose. "Hey." Probably not the best opening line but all he could come up right off the bat.
The smile that crossed her face glowed in its intensity, it was clear she was happy to see him. "Hi. Come in?"
"Not interrupting am I?" Jack asked stepping in to let the doors close behind him before her cooking drew in the attention of the entire crew.
"My cooking? Please interrupt it. " her laugh was tossed back at him as she gave the rice a stir.
"So what's on the menu?" Jack spoke taking a few steps towards the kitchen area.
"Sweet curry pork chops" she answered immediately and then grinned over her shoulder at him. "You want to join me?"
"Sure if you have spare going?" He replied as he walked to the counter and leaned forward onto it, from here the aromas were at their strongest and they smelt good.
"I always make extra" she said softly, stroking her fingers through her unbound curls.
"Ok then." Jack wasn't go to turn down a cooked meal. "So how was the day?" Making general conversation.
"Kindof slow today. Only one minor surgical procedure, so I was manning the main sickbay today." her smile was soft as she looked over at him. "Grab a drink from a replicator, and maybe pick something for dessert?"
Jack went to the replicator and fetched a pair of drinks. "Dessert huh?" A smirk on his face. "I'll leave that for a surprise later." The ideas fleeting through his head as he turned, glasses in each hand.
She laughed softly at the flicker of mischief in his face. "I'm going to assume I'm going to enjoy that later" her voice was amused as she stirred the curry sauce.
"That would be telling secrets." Jack replied with an eager smirk. "Besides, food is nearly done I think going by the smell."
His smirk made her bite her lip briefly before turning to turn off the heat under the curry. She scooped rice into two bowls and then poured the sauce over the rice. Served the pork chops over top of that, and more curry sauce over that. She handed him a bowl and a set of cutlery.
Bowl in hand Jack took a seat at the table. "So, you heal people, cook, change your hair every other week. Anything else I should know about?" He spoke as with gloved hands he picked up the cutlery and tucked in.
"I change my hair every month or so, not every other week" she corrected with a smile at him. "I draw to keep my fingers nimble, and i have been known to play an instrument or two....though never in public" her eyes dilated as that poured out of her mouth, having never admitted it to anyone before.
Jack smirked, his marine mind taking that into a dirty context. "Oh, Im sure you do." The smile on his face as he tried not to dribble the meal.
Pleased that he took no specific notice to it except for the sexual connotation she didn't know it had, Acacia simply shook her head. "Ive yet to hear any complaints about my fingers....do you want to lodge a complaint Colonel?" Her eyes gleamed wickedly at him from across the table.
"If I did, I'll let the management know at my earliest convenience." He replied as he looked at her.
A snort escaped her at his words and she gazed at him through thick eyelashes. "Very good."
"Seems you are talk of the department after your entanglement with me former assistant." Jack spoke. "A Doctor beating on a marine, and the hair was hard to miss too."
"I'm not your typical fleetie, she found that out the hard way. So did I, remind me not to do that again if it ever comes up.." She commented with a smirk "what are they saying?"
"Oh, just how a fleet in blue decked a marine." He spoke between bites. "Though I think they have clicked that we are dating."
"I was hoping for something more interesting than that if there are going to be rumors....but" she shrugged. "Is she saying anything? "
"I'm sorry, I'll stir the coals again when I get back, see what else they say. Though I think one or two might take a liking to you, apparently you have a nice body if two of my corporals say so that I overheard." Jack smiled. "No, shes not, shes still under punishment duties."
Acacia smiled at the compliment "well i suppose it is nice that they appreciate my....attributes"
"Hmmmm." Jack replied with a smirk and look. "Though seeing you in my shirt and panties earlier was pleasing to the eye, and hands."
"I rather enjoyed that too. I was just a touch concerned i might do damage to your reputation showing up to your office like that. "
"Well I think you turned a few heads lets put it that wa showing off your legs and panties. I suspect some of our younger marines will remember that view for a while to come."
"Did it turn your head?" she asked softly, her smile tiny as a blush crested her cheeks and crept down her neck.
"Yes it did." Jack replied. "Though personally I would have lost the shirt here, but put it on before you left." Not that he intended for that snippet to slip out. "But yes, it did."
"We both had things to do, and tumbling back into bed would have caused us both to be late..." her eyes twinkled at him "I am willing to take requests on my attire when we are not expected somewhere."
"I'll keep that in mind, I might have a few ideas." His smile grew as he thought on that a little more.
Once more she bit her lip at the look on his face and her eyes brightened. That boded well for later.
Jack never was a slow eater, habit of the job, eat fast and eat much because you never knew when the next meal was coming. "So, what do you think of the meal?"
She laughed "I cooked it i should be asking you that. Its one of my favorites, so im loving it."
"It's good, little more meat for me a least but otherwise, its really good." Jack replied always liking a quantity of meat to his meals if there was more to be had
A giggle escaped her "theres more on the griddle if you need." She gestured behind her "help yourself."
"Brilliant." Jack was up and back to the Kitchen to load up again, mostly meat with some extra sauce but loaded the bowl was. When he returned to the table the bowl he had could have easily fed both of them.
She beamed at the fact that he liked it enough to have a second helping. Cooking wasnt her strongest suit but she made a pretty good curry. "Im glad I made extra."
Jack nodded as he tucked in, he quickly ate what he gathered and left the cutlery in the bowl with but a spoonful of sauce at the bottom. "That....filled a hole."
"I hope it was tasty as well" she teased gently her eyes flickering from his empty bowl to the hint of orange at the corner of his mouth. "You have sauce..." and she touched the corner of her own mouth.
"Have I?" Jack put the first card on the table and deliberately rubbed the wrong corner. "Did I get it?" Knowing he hadn't but all a ruse to get her closer.
"No, its on the other side" she leaned over the table to offer him a napkin.
Jack smiled as he took the napkin, that twinkle in his eyes as he wiped his mouth. "I'll clear the table." Only fair since she cooked.
Her eyes flickered over his back and backside, admiring him openly as he cleared the dishes from the table.
