Mission: What Stalks The Night
Location: Hotel Room

The invite had arranged for them a room for 2 nights next to the Gala venue. It was a handy arrangement and a lucrative one for the hotel too as it was often booked out, he was lucky to get a room. All the documentation came through, they had to be at the check in desk at 2pm, gave them a few hours to pack and get there. "Acacia, are you ready, we have to leave soon for the hotel?" Jack pulled out his cleaned best dress uniform encased in a protective cover and laid it on the bed, shoes polished and in a container, medal and ribbons cleaned.

"Oh sure" she said as she pulled a dress bag from the closet. A smaller bag she slung over her shoulder had her other necessities, clothing and toiletry items she wanted from the ship. Her perfume primarily she didn't want to replicate. "Im ready when you are."

Jack had arranged for some assistance, with everything they had to carry to the hotel it would look silly of them to arrive loaded with things. The door chime sounded. "There is our help to carry everything. They will transport it to the room for us, while we check in." He walked to the door and a same dressed pair walked in.

"Hotel staff, we are here to collect."

"Right through there." Jack spoke. "And here they are, just on time."

"Good morning" she greeted both of them politely and raked her fingers through her unbound curls.

The staff smiled before gently picking up everything between them and walking out. The whole thing took but moments but it was a relief not to have to cart everything themselves to the front desk. "So, that was quick."

"Marines are nothing if not efficient." She quipped as she slipped her hand into the crook of his elbow.

"Shall we head out then?" Armed with all he needed, that they would need to check in it would allow them a chance for a spot of room service to eat and relax.

"Lead the way." She bit back the endearment she was going to use figuring they weren't ready for that yet.

Jack lead the way to the hotel where it was only a short walk, the view between the temp quarters and the hotel though was pleasant as they walked through a park with a small pond, ducks, birds and kids playing with them, feeding them. Jack smiled seeing the kids playing, the parents standing off to one side with smiles and joy.

"How sweet" she commented as her eyes drifted in the direction of his gaze. The children playing did remind her of her action to remove her implant and she wondered if they should talk about that possibility.

"You know, I think in the course of our duties we forget about the simple things in life that make life worth living." It was often that duties occupied his time and with Acacia it was surprisingly easy to tear himself away to give her his attention.

"I couldn't agree more." Acacia answered a smile still hovering on her lips. "Never considered being a family man and a marine?"

"Never really had the need to till you turned up." Jack replied as he looked at her and then back to the kids. "Besides, a family is a big commitment and I'm not one to push." Not that he'd excluded the idea, just didn't know what Acacia thought on the subject.

Acacia blushed a little, resting her heating cheek on his shoulder. The idea that she had been the catalyst for his considering children made her feel all warm inside. "It is a big commitment, but .." a soft wistful sigh escaped her.

"But..." Jack asked putting his arm around her now that she was leaning against him as they watched life before them, no uniforms, no duties, just people with kids and scenery.

"But...I dont think I would mind." Her blush increased until she was as red as the roots of her hair.

Jack turned to face her, taking her slender waist into his hands as he looked down at her. "What are you saying?" He spoke softly. "You can see us over there one day?"

"I could." She answered after gazing into his deep blue eyes for a long quiet moment. "I think you would be a wonderful father."

"Is there a manual for that?" Jack joked. "I might need one."

"Im pretty sure its a figure it out as you go along sort of thing." Acacia chuckled, her amusement bright in her voice.

"Oh." Jack mused holding Acacia. "Why, have you been thinking of being a Mother?" He wondered what a family would do to the careers they have.

"No more so than any woman does i suppose" she shrugged absently, truly past her desperation when he'd almost died, she hadn't really given it much thought.

"Come on, lets go to the hotel and we can continue this conversation in our room." From where they were they could see the hotel, so the walk would be very brief indeed.

She continued to walk close to him, her cheek resting softly on his shoulder. The grounds were beautiful with full grown shade trees and beautifully cultivated garden plots. Acacia was amused to see edible plants worked in to each plot.

When they arrived at the check in desk Jack handed over the documentation, everything was confirmed and good to go. "Room 216, please enjoy the stay with us." The Receptionist spoke as she handed over a pair of entry cards to them both.

Taking them Jack with Acacia in tow took a lift to the 2nd floor, right, then a left and found themselves standing outside the room. "Want to go in first?" Keen to see how much luxury was spared for this gala.

Tapping her entry card on the doorplate by way of answer, she opened the door into an enormous master suite. Whistling between her teeth when the lights came to 1/4 automatically even though unnecessarily because the room was also lit from above with a skylight that just pored sunshine in. The surgeon stepped onto the plush wine colored carpet and stared. A bathroom was tucked away in the corner, with a Jacuzzi style tub that was already full of steaming water that she had yet to notice. a hint of citrus reached her nose and she inhaled deeply. "Wow."

Jack walked around the place taking in all the features that it had available to it. It would suit them for the brief stay and the tub looked dangerously inviting. "I don't know about you, but Im getting in that." Already pulling off his shirt followed by his shoes.

"Hm?" She asked her attention not dragged from the balconies view until she heard him removing his clothes. Drinking him in a pleased, posessive smile came over her lips. She watched as he climbed into the water and she marvelled at his physical perfection.

Jack slipped into the water, the bubbles rising up his chest as he sank into its warm soothing embrace. He folded a hand towel that he'd gathered before getting in, rolled it up and used it as a pillow of sorts when he lay his head back and closed his eyes.

Stripping down and laying her clothes aside on the counter she stepped up and over the short tiled wall. The heat of the water made her sigh with delight while she settled down beside him.

"We need to get one of these in our quarters, do you think you can sweet talk Bradshaw into making it happen?" Jack asked as he felt Acacia settle beside him.
