What Stalks The Night
Location: Hotel, Earth
"Its possible you might be able to do so." She teased, her arm settling around his chest.
Holding her close to him he relaxed against the side of the tub, his head resting against the rolled up towel. "You know, I really think we don't take enough time to enjoy the simple pleasures like sharing a bath or shower enough." Considering they had only done so twice so far in his quarters and with her while he felt young, he knew physically, he wasn't.
"I am sure that you're right about that. I am also sure we could find a way to do more of it." pressing a kiss to his cheek, she nestled in beside him. Her joy in his presence was undiminished by her stillness in the hot water.
"Should warn you, tomorrow is gonna be hectic, these gala's always are." Jack had mixed feelings about them, he'd heard the stories of parties and drinking till the early hours of the morning, ratings waking up in all kinds of places and compromising positions only to be added to a wall of shame in the barracks for a period of time as punishment.
"Well fill me in on what I need to know so I don't make a mess of it." She murmured into his shoulder whilst her fingertips traced idle patterns on his abdomen.
"Usually there will be an address by the hosting brass, a toast to those that couldn't make it, opening drinks and then about an hour later usually the first course will be brought out." Jack spoke, at least explaining the start of the occasion.
She chuckled a little "Sounds kind of boring, I suppose I should keep it to one drink so I don't make a fool of you."
"Then there is dancing while the next course is ready, then served, dancing and drinks again. We can expect brass to meet and greet but yeah....boring." Even as he said it explaining the night it sounded exactly that.
"How often do you go to this sort of party?" Acacia asked absently, wondering how she could liven it up for him so he might actually enjoy it. "You going to dance with me?"
"I have not actually been to one. Nobody to go with." Jack wasn't about to break the trend too, at least until Acacia turned up. "Sure, if you don't mind the occassional foot tread or too tight a hold on you, I'm a marine afterall, not a ballroom dancer."
Unexpectedly, that admission made her eyes a little misty. He'd never been to one, but he was taking her to his first gala. It meant a great deal to her that he would want to show her to his colleagues. "I love that you're a marine, and you can stand on my toes if you don't mind me doing the same to you."
"I've had worse tread on my toes, so I'll manage you easily." Jack spoke. "Just be prepared to be asked to dance with other marines." Not that Jack was particularly fond of that. "Its known that some marines will play a game of most dances, some pool bet or something." The way he spoke about it highlighting his disapproval.
"What about specifically?" she asked knowing that most people did not take her seriously and often lost games of chance to her because they assumed that she was stupid.
"I don't know, I know the game goes on, but having never been I don't know all the particulars, but the marine with the most dances wins a prize." Jack replied.
"Should we monopolize the dance floor then?" her cheeky smile evident in the amused tone of her voice.
"That would depend on the heels you wear." Jack spoke knowing that more than a few women attending would be walking out with heels dangling from fingers after so much dancing.
"Please, you think that I won't wear sensible shoes under my dress because noone will see them?" poking him lightly in the stomach as she spoke the giggle that escaped her lips belayed her sensible words. They wouldn't be uncomfortable shoes that she would wear for dancing.
"Honestly I'll be surprised if you wear anything under that dress." Jack smirked, body jerking a little at the poke.
Another laugh answered him as if that was exactly her intention. "Would I ever dream of teasing my marine by not wearing anything under my dress?"
Jack smiled, turning his head to kiss the top of hers as she was leaning against him. "Honestly, I hope so." There was what Acacia did to him, made him feel young again, adventurous, wild, outgoing and maybe a little risk taker.
"The dress has a bra built in, but I suppose I can oblige you. Though, I did have something fun to wear underneath. If you're not interested though I don't have to wear it." drawing out the word have to emphasise it, she leaned back into the embrace of the water.
"Why don't you surprise me then?" Jack replied. With a smile on his face he relaxed in the moment of bathing together, something they seldom did or were able to do with duties always finding a way to interrupt.
"Don't I always?" Acacia countered still amused "I'm hurt that you would say otherwise."
"Oh you do, just some surprises you pull out even I couldn't begin to expect." Jack said. Soon however the need to get out was rearing its head. He liked a bath but didn't like to cook within it and new Acacia liked her showers almost skin dissolving hot.
Her delighted laughter followed him into the shower, but her eyes tracing his body found the scars across his chest that she'd left upon him. She'd known how he felt about the marks on his skin and had left the final marks of her handiwork on him.
Jack turned the shower on and began to wash up. "You know, I half expect someone to say something about me attending. I looked up the confirmed guest list and there are a few familiar names on there."
"do tell" she murmerred as she luxuriated in the hot water, her leg emerging from the tub drops falling from the heel. Her fingers touched her curls, which were the wrong color for the dress she was going to wear.
"Well I've not gone before, and its not through lack of invites. Mother always makes sure I'm sent one. But this would be the first I've accepted AND....I'm bringing you. So pretty sure that's going to be cause for questions." Jack spoke as he soaped up his hands with the bar sitting in its little holder and then his body.
"ill get to meet your mother?" her voice rose in surprise, sitting up enough that her movement sent water all over the floor. "Oops."
"Not in an hour and messing the place up." Jack grinned as he turned following hearing the water go everywhere.
"Boy, you don't understand the importance of meeting your SO's mother..."
"I am sure you will be fine, besides its my Father you should worry about. If anything he will view you as a distraction." Jack explained.
Blue eyes gleaming she gazed at him "Both parents in a formal setting. Woof. You know how to romance a girl, you sure do." She sank back under the water and worked her fingers through her hair. "Computer, program one dye remover packet"
"Well, I didn't hear you complaining at the time." Jack replied.
"Well, no of course not" Acacia remarked, something flickering deep in her eyes something deep and lasting adoration.
"Well there you have it babe, in for a penny, in for a pound or in this case, about 180 of them." Jack began to wash his hair though he was smiling, and loving this banter filled moment.
"183.7" she shot back as the replicator spit out a tube of dye remover "You're not going to panic seeing me without my signature wild side are you?"
"I will try to contain myself." Jack remarked. "So, what colour will you change it to this time?"
"To match my dress of course. " she beamed at him "Just have to revert to the natural before i do that..."
"I see." Jack never cared about the colour of his hair, being a marine often turned hair various shades of grey and white as time went on.
" well, it's just that you've never seen me wearing completely my own face you know what I mean" her voice was quieter as she continued" nobody has.
